Emissions Reduction in Our Communities: Pipeline Modernization

While we continue to provide safe, reliable and affordable natural gas service to our 69,000 Chattanooga Gas customers in Tennessee, we are also working to reduce our environmental footprint.

Between 1998 and 2018, Chattanooga Gas reduced its annual methane emissions by over 50%, while growing its distribution system by approximately 20% thanks to infrastructure modernization efforts.

The Pipeline Replacement Program (PRP) is an infrastructure improvement project replacing more than 110 miles of aging pipelines in Chattanooga with state-of-the-art plastic and steel pipes. This project supports the ongoing safety and reliability of the Chattanooga Gas natural gas pipeline system while also minimizing emissions.
